GATES, Ore. – A man was arrested for murder of his missing wife on August 20 after bones found by a hunter last year in Gates, Ore. were identified as his wife’s.

On September 1, 2012, a hunter from Mill City, Ore. reported that he found what looked to be part of a human skeleton while he was hunting east of Gates, said Jodie Bureta of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

A forensic anthropologist determined the bones were human. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Squad took over the investigation and discovered the remains were those of Maribel Gutierrez-Salinas, who was reported missing in 2011.

Gutierrez-Salinas’ 42-year-old husband, Gustavo Villaneuva Guttierez, was identified as a suspect in the case. He was arrested in Laredo Texas for her murder and abuse of a corpse.
