MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- An outbreak of the stomach flu has forced the Grant County School District to close one of its schools Friday.

Administrators say more than 100 students have become sick at Longview Elementary.

450 students go to Longview. On Thursday, school officials said more than a quarter of them, along with staff members, had a fever, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.

Grant County Health District Administrator,  Jeff Ketchel, said the symptoms appear to be the result of a highly contagious norovirus. He said it is spread through food and water, contact with an infected person or something the ill person touches.

Ketchel said the illness typically lasts one to three days.
