SPOKANE, Wash. -- A four-time convicted felon was put in jail following a foot pursuit Friday morning.

It started around 12:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Joseph. Witnesses said someone fired shots from a van and took off before police arrived.

An hour later and a few blocks away, a van matching the witness descriptions led police on the short pursuit. Police said Maceo L. Williams, 28, got out of the van and took off on foot, tossing three loaded handguns as he ran through area backyards.

Officers caught up with Williams and arrested him in the 1600 block of East Rich.

Williams is a confirmed gang member. Officers are investigating Williams and the vehicle for a possible connection to the shots fired call on Joseph.

He was arrested on a felony DOC Warrant and taken into custody.Neither the officer nor the suspect was injured in the pursuit and subsequent arrest according to police.
