BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY -- Thousands are preparing to dust off their running shoes, and challenge Bronco Football Head Coach Chris Petersen to a footrace Saturday morning.

The sixth-annual Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run and Walk happens at 9:30 a.m.

KTVB will have live reports during the race on Today's Morning News from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

While it's only three miles, and mostly just run for fun -- the event does raise money for students who need help financially. Most of the money raised from the race goes toward both emergency funding and general scholarship funds for BSU students.

On top of that, Coach Pete personally donates $5 dollars to the charity for every runner who finishes before him.

Some say the races provides a unique and exciting experience for those getting to run alongside the BSU coach.

Coach Petersen agrees.

"It's such a good cause -- raising money for the general scholarship fund, and it's exercise, and there's good energy, it doesn't normally take a long time, just 30 minutes," Petersen told KTVB.

In case you were wondering, Coach Pete usually fnishes the race in about 27 minutes.
