PORTLAND - Grimm fans, the wait is almost over. The show returns Friday, March 8th, but in the meantime, your favorite Portland cops have been filming action scenes all over the city.

And to get those scenes just right, they turn to the real Portland Police.

“They’ve just treated us with a lot of respect and we want to do the same for them,” said actor Russell Hornsby, who plays Detective Hank Griffin in the show.

Since the show started, the actors have been working closely with the Portland Police Bureau.

“I did a ride along with the gang unit and the guys are just so great to let me come along, you know,” said David Gintouli, the lead actor who plays Detective Nick Burkhardt on the show.

Sgt. Pete Simpson is a consultant on the show and helps writers with police “lingo” and gives tips on how to make the action scenes more realistic.

"We talk a lot about how to bring a firearm up to your hands and keeping that finger out of the trigger," Simpson said.

You can see how the actors put that advice into practice by watching Grimm, Friday nights at 9 p.m., on KGW Newschannel 8.
