STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. -- A crash killed one person Friday night along Highway 395 just north of Clayton.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene around 4 p.m.

The driver of a Dodge Caravan crossed the center line while headed northbound on the highway. A GMC pickup truck headed southbound slammed into the passenger side of the van.

William E. Gilk, a passenger in the van, was transported to Sacred Heart for serious injuries. The 55-year-old man died at the hospital. The van’s driver was also transported to Sacred Heart for her injuries.

Troopers say winter weather is to blame for the crash.
