COLFAX, Wash. -- A murder trial ended in a mistrial on Thursday morning for Daniel Lazcano. A Whitman County judge declared a mistrial for Lazcano’s murder and kidnapping charges.

Yet, a jury found 21-year-old Lazcano guilty for disposing of human remains.

Lazcano was charged in with the killing of Marcus Schur. A fisherman found Schur’s body in Bonnie Lake in March of 2012. An autopsy showed that Schur was shot to death. Authorities believed Schur’s body was dumped in the lake in late 2011. Prosecutors said that Lazcano and his brother allegedly shot Schur in retaliation for a gun theft.

Lazcano’s brother, Frank, faces similar charges. Prosecutors said that Frank’s trial is scheduled to begin on Monday.
