AURORA, Ore. – A man was struck by a vehicle along Interstate 5 and critically injured Thursday morning near Aurora, police said.
Police temporarily closed all southbound lanes of I-5 at milepost 281 while the crash was being investigated, said Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Dan Swift.
"The preliminary investigation showed a pedestrian was walking northbound on the southbound shoulder when he appeared to run into the travel lanes of the freeway," Swift said.
The victim, later identified as Joren Moon Love, 26, of Portland, was taken by helicopter to a Portland hospital, where he was last reported in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Swift said.
