EAGLE -- Ada County Sheriff's deputies continued to investigate a crash on State Street in Eagle Thursday morning that sent five people to the hospital.

The crash occurred at 9:29 a.m. at the intersection of N. Parkinson and State Street.

Investigators say a 35-year-old Eagle woman was attempting to turn left from N. Parkinson onto eastbound State Street when her Dodge Caravan was hit broadside by a westbound Volkswagen Passat driven by a 21-year-old Garden City man.

The passengers in the minivan were a 13-year-old boy, 5-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.

Deputies on scene say the girl was ejected from the minivan. The girl's mother was attending to her when paramedics arrived on scene. We are told she has a broken femur.

Everyone involved in the crash, four people in the Caravan and the driver of the Passat, were taken by Ada County Paramedics to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. None of the injuries are said to be life-threatening.

The posted speed limit on that stretch of State Street is 55 miles per hour.

Both westbound and eastbound traffic on State Street was diverted for more than three hours. That section of State Street reopened just after 1 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges or citations have been issued at this time.
