AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash.-- A suspect is back in custody after escaping from Spokane Tribal Police.
It started Tuesday afternoon when tribal police officers served a search warrant on a suspect at the Lantern Hotel in Airway Heights, and arrested him.
Airway Heights Police officers say another man in the hotel room had a warrant for escaping from the tribe’s jail. They handcuffed him and put him in the back of a patrol car. Officers say that’s when the suspect rolled down the window and jumped out.
Authorities say the suspect ran three miles into a wooded area. Airway Heights Police and Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in the search.
Sheriff's K-9 Ekko and his handler tracked the suspect near the area of the ORV Park in Airway Heights. Deputies say Ekko found the suspect hiding behind a tree. Authorities say Ekko's handler ordered the suspect to come out, and he was taken back into custody.
