KALISPELL, Mont. -- Authorities in Montana caught and arrested the man wanted for a homicide in Elk, Washington.
Kalispell police caught Matthew Swancara, 24, on Monday afternoon. Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s deputies began looking for Swancara overnight. Authorities believe Swancara stabbed his mother to death.
Authorities found Sally Swancara’s body just before 9:00 p.m. Sunday. Deputies were responding to a domestic violence assault at a home on Juanita Lane in Elk. They arrived and found the 56-year-old woman dead from a stab wound.
Deputies say the suspect was gone by the time they go there.
Neighbors told KREM 2 News that the suspect lived with his parents. One neighbor said this is not the first time that Matthew was been in trouble.
“Every time he would come back home, there's been problems and that's when the burglaries would happen,” said a neighbor who chose to remain anonymous, “I know most of the people on this road have been robbed.
Sheriff’s deputies confirmed that that have responded to the Swancara’s house before for other fights between the family.
