SPOKANE, Wash. -- Ice covered roads led to a serious crash in north Spokane Friday morning.

It happened just before 1 a.m. at Francis and Freya.

All four people in the car had to be extricated when the vehicle crashed into a railroad pole.

Three people were listed in serious condition, and one person was critically injured in the wreck.

First responders on the scene say road conditions were especially bad overnight.

“Be really careful. Drive really slowly and be prepared for the worst. Understand that even though the road looks wet, it could very easily have a layer of ice underneath the water,” Deputy Chief Kevin Von Steuben of the Spoken Fire Department said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but police say speed does not appear to be a factor.

The victims’ ages range from teens to early 20s.

This was just one of multiple wrecks Friday morning. Most others were minor. Remember you can always follow us on Twitter @krem2 or on on our Facebook page for constant updates.
