Spokane PD: Robber nabbed hours after she took woman's purse

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A woman stole a victim’s purse in a Spokane parking garage and pawned the items inside, according to Spokane police.

It happened Monday morning at the Division of Social and Health Services office in the 1300 block of North Atlantic.

An employee said the suspect, 23-year-old Natalie Houle, approached her while she was parking her car. She first asked the victim for directions, but then reportedly began calling her names. Houle then allegedly yanked the woman’s purse, causing to victim to fall. Police say Houle ran from the scene.

Around 10:30 Monday night, police noticed a car driving without headlights near 3rd and Fiske. Officers say the woman was driving with a suspended license and had a warrant out for her arrest. Upon further investigation, police say they discovered the robbery victim’s credit cards and work I.D. on the suspect.

Spokane police say Houle pawned the victim’s iPod, used her gift cards and racked up charges on her debit card after stealing the purse.

Houle allegedly admitted to using taking the robbery and said she used the money for drugs.

She is now charged with second-degree robbery, first-degree trafficking in stolen property and second-degree identity theft.
