PORTLAND -- The tires were slashed on at least 14 vehicles in a Southeast Portland neighborhood overnight, police said.

Police were called at about 5 a.m. to the report of a tire slashing near Southeast Franklin Street and Southeast 30th Avenue, said Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The caller reported hearing something outside and seeing two people walking hurriedly eastbound on Franklin Street, Simpson said.

A responding officer checked the area and found 14 vehicles with slashed tires.

"The two people seen walking out of the area were described as about 5-foot-7, wearing dark clothing," Simpson said. "It's not clear that they are suspects but they were in the area at the time of the crimes."

Anyone waking up in the area to find their tires slashed was asked to file a report online at portlandpolice.com.
