PORTLAND -- A Portland woman was reunited Monday with her dog "Rico" after he ran away in a panic Saturday following a car crash.
Rico escaped near Northeast Shaver Street and North Williams Avenue, but he was spotted Monday morning on North Lombard Street. A family who had seen a poster with his picture on it called his owner and said he was in their front yard, looking very tired.
His owner, Nicole Weir, said they were reunited soon after that.
Weir said she had been having dinner Saturday when she heard sirens. She looked up to see her car had been hit and pushed into a telephone pole. Rico was in a crate inside the car, but somehow got out and ran away.
In addition to posting flyers, a friend set up a "find Rico" Facebook page.
"I wanted to thank everyone so much for your support and prayers and good thoughts and tips," Weir said on the page Monday. "I am absolutely overwhelmed by the response and offers to help."
