BURNS, Ore. – Police discovered a meth lab inside of a commercial truck after they received a hit-and-run and reckless driving complaint Saturday.
At around noon, police and sheriff’s deputies pulled over a 2002 Freightliner truck pulling a flatbed trailer westbound on Highway 20 just west of Burns, officers said.
Inside the truck sat 46-year-old Steven Smith and his passenger 39-year-old Bridget Golding who are both from Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Officers arrested Smith for DUII and then discovered a small dismantled meth lab in the truck. The officers then called state police to help with the investigation.
Smith and Golding are both charged with possession and manufacture of a controlled substance and were booked in the Harney County Jail.
The dismantled lab was turned over to a Haz-Mat team for disposal.
