BOISE -- A Boise man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he broke into an apartment, then hid out on the roof of an apartment building for several hours.

Robert K. Streicher, 35, faces charges of felony burglary and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing officers.

Officers were called to the apartment near the intersection of West Morris Hill and North Curtis roads at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday morning.

The caller, a neighbor, told police she heard a window shatter and noises outside. Officers say they found a broken window and spotted a man running away. The man climbed up an awning and onto the roof of an apartment building, police said.

Police believed at the time that Streicher may have stolen guns from the apartment, so they set up a perimeter around the building.

A Boise Fire Department ladder truck was brought in, and after spending several hours in the cold temperatures, Streicher was arrested around 8:15 a.m., police said.

It was not immediately clear if the man surrendered or if police had to use force to arrest him.

Streicher was taken to a local hospital to be examined for any possible cold-related injuries. Medical personnel cleared him and he was booked into the Ada County Jail a little before 11 a.m.

Police say that officers were able to recover personal items that were taken from the apartment, but no firearms were found.
