Firefighters appear to have a stubborn barn fire under control at a doggy daycare facility near Arlington.

Witnesses say shortly after midnight they heard loud popping noises, then a show arena at Arlington Doggy Day Care was engulfed in flames. A man identifying himself as a family member staying at the farm said he was able to help rescue a pregnant cow and two horses from the burning structure, but says two piglets likely perished.

The dog kennels were not affected because fire officials said they are in a separate facility from the show arena.

The fire was difficult to fight because the barn was filled with hay that continued to smolder six hours after the initial reports of flames.

No humans were injured, and it will be up to the Snohomish County Fire Marshal to determine an exact cause.
