BOISE -- Children of local military families can get something extra for Christmas this year.

An organization is donating presents to those whose families help protect our country. Monday morning, gifts will be available to any kids of veterans or active military.

The toys will be handed out from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Vets for a Better Life Computer and Thrift Store at Ustick Road and Esquire Drive.

"To be able to give all these gifts to the military families because I know they are in need and nobody knows how much they sacrifice for us, but they give us our freedom," said the group's president, Bob Osborne.

The donations are in honor of Richard H. Petrie. He served in the Navy and passed away last year.

Osborne tells us families do not have to register, but can simply stop by the store to get a toy donation.
