SPOKANE, Wash. -- An employee at a local pharmacy fought back when a man robbed the shop.
It happened just before 1 a.m. Friday at the Walgreens at Empire and Division.
The employee told police she saw the man steal several items. She decided to confront him, and when he pulled out a knife, the woman punched him in the face, knocked him down and took the weapon.
“It’s not something we recommend-- to confront a robbery suspect. At that time, she thought she was dealing with a shoplifting suspect, and he pulled out a knife. In certain situations, people need to do what they need to do to defend themselves. That’s what she did. Luckily, everything turned out good tonight,” Sgt. Kevin King with the Spokane Police Department said.
Police arrested Richard Edmonds, 25, a few blocks away on suspicions of first-degree robbery.
