CASCADE LOCKS, Ore. – A semi-truck driver traveling along I-84 early Monday morning was involved in a freak accident caused by high winds.

The driver was heading toward Portland when suddenly a huge tree branch smashed through his windshield just east of Cascade Locks.

It appeared that the branch broke off in a big wind gust and then went flying toward the truck.

It came at the truck so fast that it actually smashed through the truck’s windshield.

Amazingly, no one was hurt.

Crews with the Oregon Department of Transportation were able to respond quickly.

“ODOT crews cut back the tree. They were already in the area, knowing that it would likely be a trouble spot,” explained Kimberly Dinwiddie, an ODOT spokeswoman.
