SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho -- A Shoshone Co. deputy escaped major injuries in multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 90.

Police responded to a wreck in the westbound lanes at milepost 73 around 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Both drivers were uninjured when a car rear ended a semi truck in that crash.

As the deputy sat in his patrol car documenting the collision, a Ford Taurus headed westbound slid off the interstate into a barrier, and then into the deputy’s vehicle. Just seconds later, a Hyundai sedan also slid into the barrier, and then into the Taurus, which hit the deputy’s car a second time.

The patrol car flew into the centerline of the interstate, but did not cause any further wrecks.

Rescue crews had to extricate the driver of the Taurus. That person was taken to Shoshone Medical Center for possible internal injuries.

Two of the other drivers involved, including the deputy, were examined for minor injuries.

The Idaho State Police are investigating.
