A suspected DUI driver pursued by the Washington State Patrol on I-405 Saturday night turned out to be a 15-year-old boy.
The King County Sheriff's Office said one of their sergeants was southbound on I-405 just before 9 p.m. when he saw a red Ford van get onto the freeway in front of him with no lights on and driving erratically.
The sergeant watched as the driver repeatedly swerved abruptly as he continued down I-405.
When the sergeant attempted to stop the van a pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle crashed into a barrier on I-405 near the SE 8th St on-ramp.
The suspect fled on foot. The Guardian 1 helicopter located the suspect as he ran, jumped a fence, hid on a roof and then tried to hide. The pilot directed officers to the suspect.
The teen was arrested and booked into the Youth Service Center.
