COEUR d’ALENE--A North Idaho mother accused of leaving her two young boys on the side of I-90 in October was in court Thursday.

Shannon Duval had a status conference Thursday morning.  She waived her preliminary hearing that was scheduled for Friday.  There will be an arraignment scheduled in the future, but there is no date set at this time.

Investigators say Shannon Duval left her sons along the highway near Post Falls for several hours.

Court documents revealed what investigators found that night.  A construction worker found the boys, ages six and three, sitting less than 20 feet from the Interstate.  They were hungry, wet and cold.  The documents revealed the brothers were wearing only thin sweatshirts and jeans with holes.  The six-year-old had just one shoe and no socks.  The three-year-old did not have any shoes or socks on his feet.

Investigators eventually picked Duval up at her Spokane Valley apartment.  She told investigators that she was suffering from amnesia and that she woke up in a motel room with no memory of what happened.

Prosecutor Barry McHugh says they’re working on a possible negotiated settlement with Duval, but couldn’t provide any further details.
