COLVILLE, WA--A man charged in the death of an Alaska barista has ties to the Stevens County town of Colville, Washington.

34-year old Israel Keyes was found dead in his Anchorage jail cell Sunday morning.  Officials say it was a suicide.

He's linked to murders in four states.  Authorities say he confessed to killing a Vermont couple and also indicated he killed four people in Washington State.   Authorities say in all, Israel Keyes has admitted to killing 8 people, but names of some of his self-confessed victims remain a mystery.

Keyes was facing a March trial in federal court for the murder of an 18-year-old woman who was abducted from an Anchorage coffee stand last year.

Keyes is originally from Colville.  Many neighbors there find it chilling that he lived in their hometown.

The FBI office in Spokane says it doesn’t know of any murders tied to the Spokane area yet and agents aren't actively working on anything.  Keyes doesn’t have any criminal records in Stevens County Superior Court and the sheriff’s office say it doesn’t have anything to say about him.

The FBI for the state of Alaska is asking for the public’s help in developing information concerning the travels of the suspected serial killer in order to identify additional victims.
