COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Coeur d’Alene Police arrested a suspect for drug and burglary charges after they say he fled from a traffic stop.
Officers attempted to pull over Shane Patrick Amaral, 28, around 10:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Indiana.
As police questioned him, Amaral fled. They followed him to 22nd Place, where Amaral hopped out of his vehicle while it was still running. The car crashed into a fence in nearby yard as Amaral ran toward I-90.
Kootenai County deputies tracked the suspect down on foot.
Amaral was carrying marijuana and paraphernalia, according to police. Officers say they also noticed silver dishware within plain view in his car.
Amaral reportedly admitted to burglarizing Cisco’s Antique Store prior to the pursuit.
Amaral has a record of grand theft, reckless driving and probation violations. He was transported to the jail and booked in for burglary, eluding, and possession of a controlled substance.
