SPOKANE, Wash. -- Flames erupted from the roof of a Spokane home Wednesday morning.

The fire started around 10 a.m. in the house’s garage near Stone and 46th.

Flames jumped from the garage to the attic, and even spread to a neighboring home. Crews were able to stop them from going any farther into the house, and from doing much damage to the second.

Neighbors say their block watch helped them contact the homeowner. They recently updated the phone list, allowing them to call the owners quickly.

A pet snake was inside at the time but was safely rescued.

No one was injured.

The cause is under investigation.
