SPOKANE--There have been some recent setbacks for projects in Spokane's Kendall Yards neighborhood, but that isn't stopping some businesses from moving forward with their plans to open up.

Central Food opened last week and the restaurant is attracting a decent number of customers so far.  Chef and owner David Blaine says he has waited like everyone else to see the neighborhood start to take shape.

Other businesses are working to get here as well. Spa paradiso will be next to the restaurant but is still waiting for construction to finish on their location.

Chef Blaine is the first to open and he's excited to for everyone to see what Kendall Yards can offer.  Blaine believes the spring and following year are going to be a great time for his business and the neighborhood as a whole.

On the residential side, homes and apartments are at all stages. Some are already occupied, while others have been sold.  Still, many more are under construction and developers are working on phase two of the area at the moment.

Construction on the Centennial Trail and expansion of local roads are set to be major steps for Kendall Yards in the new year.
