PULLMAN, Wa--Washington State University President Elson Floyd announced Sunday that the school will be reviewing recent allegations of abuse made by former Washington State wide-receiver Marquess Wilson.
Wilson announced his departure from the football team Saturday; citing physical, emotional and verbal abuse by the coaching staff.
Floyd says that after speaking with Athletic Director Bill Moos, he asked the athletic department to review the allegations and report their findings as soon as possible.
Floyd has also asked the PAC-12 Conference to look into the allegations. WSU staff says the PAC-12 began working on that process over the weekend.
KREM2 reached out to the Pac-12 directly. They had no comment, except to emphasize that their review is independent of the one planned by the school.
Staff at WSU says it’s important to keep as much of the process private, so everyone can speak freely.
On Monday, Coach Mike Leach was asked about the accusations and he denied any sort of abuse occurred.
