PHILOMATH, Ore. – A teen riding ATVs with a friend was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in Philomath, police said.

Investigators think Shaquille Deauntea Sayles, 19, of Albany, crashed around 4:30 a.m. after getting separated from his fellow ATV rider.

Friends found Sayles on the ground and seriously injured near 30581 Botkin Road Wednesday morning.

Sayles was rushed to Good Samaritan Regional Hospital but he was pronounced dead there, shortly after 6 am.

Deputies went to the crash scene and are still investigating. They said it looked as though Sayles had crashed his ATV into a tree and alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
