The mother accused of neglecting her two daughters and leaving them in a car on the Tulalip Reservation has pleaded not guilty.

Christina Carlson entered not guilty pleas on two counts of criminal endangerment and two counts of failure to provide care in Tulalip Tribal Court Thursday.

Carlson wore a blanket over her head and shoulders throughout the hearing. A judge ordered her face not be shown.

On Monday, police found Carlson's 17-month-old daughter Chantal dead in a car. Her 2-year-old daughter was found unconscious and is being treated at Seattle Children's Hospital.

According to charging documents, the children were neglected between September 19 and October 8.

If convicted, Carlson faces as long as four years in jail and thousands of dollars in fines. Her bond was set at $75,000.

Child Protective Services and Tulalip Tribal Police conducted a joint investigation prior to the incident, but children were not removed from their mother's custody.
