Residents in Stevens County and northern Spokane County are without phone service as of Friday afternoon.
Century Link says their fiber line was cut, and crews are investigating the problem. Service has already been out for hours, and officials do not know when it will be restored.
The outage applies to 911. Anyone with an emergency should go to their nearest fire department or police station.
