COEUR D’ALENE -- The North Idaho family targeted by convicted serial killer Joseph Duncan was back in court Tuesday battling each other.
Steve Groene is suing for control of the money raised for his children Dylan and Shasta just after their kidnapping. The fund was set up before Dylan was found brutally murdered.
Groene is suing his late ex-wife’s sister Brandy Hoagland, who is also Shasta’s aunt, for control of the bank account. It originally had more than $40,000 in it for Shasta. Groene accuses Hoagland of mismanaging the account.
Hoagland’s attorney tried to get the case dismissed in court Tuesday, which the judge ruled against.
Joseph Duncan was convicted for the 2005 kidnapping of Shasta and Dylan, and the murder of Dylan.
