It could cost you $40 to take a cab from downtown Seattle to Sea-Tac Airport if a City Council proposal is approved.
The Seattle Times reports the proposed $8 flat rate increase will be voted on by the full council Monday. If approved, the new rate would go into effect 30 days after being signed by Mayor Mike McGinn.
In addition to the increase of the airport flat rate, the base rate for all other trips would go from $2.50 for the first 1/10 mile to $2.50 for the first 1/9 mile. After that, the distance rate of 25 cents per 1/10 mile would increase to 30 cents per 1/9 mile. The time charge of 25 cents per 30 seconds would go up to 30 cents per 36 seconds.
