PORTLAND -- Police have kicked squatters out of a home in North Portland, again.
This makes the third time they have kicked people out of the same house in the 6100 block of N Mississippi Avenue.
The homeowner, Gloria Cason, told KGW she got a letter she thought was from Bank of America, telling her to vacate the house.
She packed up her belongings and moved out, but at about the same time squatters moved in.
"They have bookcases, books, computers," Cason said. "They're definitely living in here."
She and her realtor believe the letter was actually written by one of the people who took over the house.
"It hurts," Cason said. "But can you imagine how many other people are going through this same thing?"
"She knew this was going to happen at some point, but the way the banks work is they will knock on your door," added realtor Gary Horton. "They won't send a letter to vacate out of the house. "
The people living in the house refused to comment as they were leaving.
Detectives said this was part of a much larger investigation.
"We understand there's some issue on whether it's foreclosed or ready to be sold; that's unresolved for us," Portland Police Lt. Robert King told KGW. "But we know that in either case nobody can be at the house, certainly not squatters."
One of the people believed to be squatting inside the home was arrested early last month for vandalizing several banks in the Portland area.
