PERUGIA, Italy (AP) — Italian prosecutors have begun their closing arguments in the trial of an American student accused of killing her British roommate.
Prosecutors are expected to outline evidence they have presented in the trial against Amanda Knox and her Italian ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.
Knox and Sollecito are charged with murder and sexual violence in the 2007 killing of Meredith Kercher in Perugia. They deny wrongdoing. Both have been jailed for more than two years and were in court Friday.
The eight-member jury is expected to issue a verdict in early December.
Knox and Sollecito could face Italy's stiffest punishment, life imprisonment, if convicted of murder.
