UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Iran's foreign minister says he believes it's possible to reach "an understanding or an agreement" with six world powers on his country's nuclear program before talks wrap up on Friday.

Mohammad Javad Zarif told CNN's Christiane Amanpour both sides can sit down together by Friday morning to prepare "some sort of a joint statement" that would address three elements.

He said Thursday these elements are a "common objective" for both sides, "an end game that we all try to reach ... hopefully in less than a year," and a series of actions the two sides have to take reciprocally "to build confidence and address their most immediate concerns."

Zarif refused to provide any details except to say "there won't be a suspension of our enrichment program in its entirety."
