PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — Suspected U.S. missiles have hit a militant compound in Pakistan, according to intelligence officials there. They say six militants were killed when two missiles believed to be fired from U.S. drones hit a compound belonging to the Pakistani Taliban.
Also today, 16 people were killed when a bomb exploded near a marketplace in a tribal region along the Afghan border. No group has claimed responsibility, but Taliban militants regularly target security forces and civilians in the area.
Elsewhere in Pakistan, police say attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades at a paramilitary convoy, killing one soldier and wounding five others.
