KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) — It's a major Muslim holiday, but that hasn't stopped the carnage in Afghanistan.
In the latest attack by apparent Afghan forces against their coalition allies, NATO says a man in an Afghan police uniform has shot and killed an international service member in southern Afghanistan.
NATO also says three service members have been killed today by a roadside bomb in central Afghanistan. It didn't reveal their nationalities or other details.
Attacks also continued today on Afghans associated with the government.
On a holiday when Muslims traditionally visit graves and recite prayers for the dead, a bomb hidden in a cemetery killed a police chief and his brother who were visiting a family grave in southern Afghanistan. The two were brothers of a lawmaker.
In western Afghanistan, gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the car of an intelligence service official, killing him and his brother who worked for the customs service.
In a speech marking the Eid al-Fitr (ayd ahl-FIH'-tur) holiday, President Hamid Karzai condemned the repeated insurgent attacks that took place during Ramadan.
