LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) — Slovenia's police have found a girl who disappeared a year ago during her parents' custody battle that has captivated this small European country.
Police said Thursday the 5-year-old Klara Kaker is well after being discovered in Slovenia's northeastern town of Celje. They did not give more details.
Her father Bostjan Kaker was last month sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for abducting his daughter and refusing to say where she was. He had disobeyed a court order to give custody of the girl to her mother after the couple separated in 2008.
A court rejected his claim that he had brought the girl to a "safe place" to protect her from alleged sexual abuse by her maternal grandfather.
