Woman claims she has device,' demands money from bank in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. --- Officials said a woman went inside the Moses Lake Horizon Credit Union in Moses Lake off of Pioneer Street and claimed she had a “device” with her at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

She told employees of the bank someone had taped an explosive device to her body and told her to come inside and demand money, according to Moses Lake PD.

All of the employees and customers left the building at that time, except two who stayed behind to help negotiate with police, according to MLPD.

The woman eventually was convinced to remove the duct tape and leave the device inside the bank, officials said. She then exited the building and was taken into custody.

The entire area around the bank was cleared by about 6:40 p.m. Friday and the Washington State Patrol bomb squad from the Tri-Cities responded to investigate the device.

Officials did not immediately identify the suspect.
