SPOKANE, Wash. --- Police are inspecting after workers found a white substance on a letter in the mail room of the Spokane County Jail facility.
Law enforcement said it happened Wednesday at 2:10 p.m. Officials said the substance had "no effect," though they did close a portion of Gardner Avenue to investigate.
Officials said the U.S. Postal Service inspector, along with Spokane Police Department, would also investigate.
SPD said they do not believe the incident is connected to a similar scare at the courthouse a few months ago. Hazmat crews took samples of the substance to test.
KREM 2 has a crew at the scene. This story will be updated.
