MOLALLA, Ore. -- A woman survived nearly a day with her hand stuck under the hood of her truck in rural Clackamas County, about 15 miles south of Molalla.
The woman was working on her truck around 5 p.m. Wednesday when the hood came crashing down on her hand. She was trapped until 11 a.m. Thursday.
"I've never seen someone with their hand stuck under the hood like that," said Chief Vince Stafford of the Molalla Fire Department.
The woman suffered through cold, wind and snow flurries overnight. She was not freed until some neighbors on horseback heard her faint screams for help.
"She was able to jog in place, is what she told paramedics," said Stafford. "Very, very tough lady and courageous."
She was listed in serious condition Friday morning.
