SPOKANE, Wash. -- A man said he tracked down his stolen goods using Craigslist to a home in Hillyard, where police executed a search warrant Wednesday night.
Rick Harter said crooks cleaned out his house on East Lyons. Harter took matters into his own hands and found the stolen items on Craigslist. He then made a call to the man that posted the ad, which led him to a home on the 4000 block of North Freya.
“I was not happy, not happy at all,” said Harter.
Harter said he found some of his stolen property but Spokane Police executed a search warrant to find the rest.
The woman who lived at the Hillyard home where the search warrant was served said she had no idea she was dealing with stolen goods.
"It's pretty much a misunderstanding,” said Karla Espinoza. “I met a friend of mine and he was trying to make some quick cash, and so I accepted some things he had on him…and I tried selling the stuff. It turned out to be stolen property.”
Espinoza also said she apologized when she found out what had happened. She would not tell police who she got the goods from, however.
In the meantime, all Harter could do was wait to see if all his stolen property turned up.
“It's not worth the headaches I had to go through to get it,” Harter added.
No arrests had been made in the case.
