SPOKANE, Wash.  – Gonzaga students who are faithful Bulldog fans are weighing their priorities Thursday since the game falls right in the middle of the school day.

Several professors rescheduled their classes that fall during that window, but many did not.

“We highly support the team, we support our students, so we’re somewhat flexible, but there are probably some that say, ‘Absolutely not.’ I’m not one of those,” Gonzaga communication professor John Caputo said.

Gonzaga University policy is to not cancel classes for the games, so students are getting creative and trying to see how they can make both work.

“I have class during that time so I was kinda bummed, but I was hoping our teacher would cancel,” Gonzaga junior Katey Pennington said. “But she didn’t so I’m just gonna watch it on my computer.”

“I think the game starts at 1:10, I have a class at 2:40, so I have to choose,” Gonzaga sophomore Christian Hoag said. “Hopefully the game gets over before 2:30, we’ll see, you know. Priorities, I guess.”

One professor said she’s tried holding class during Gonzaga’s tournament games in the past and said it was “useless” because the majority of the students are not there physically and the ones who are there aren’t there mentally, she said.
