THE DALLES, Oregon-- An Amber Alert has been cancelled for an Oregon boy.

Authorities said suspect Brian Lester DePriest, 36, took Skylar Melvin Coulcer-Jarding, 5, after an assault.

Authorities believe DePriest broke into home and assaulted two adults with a hammer.  They said the suspect then grabbed the young boy and fled on foot.

Investigators said DePriest then took off in a stolen Chevrolet Cavalier..

Police tracked down DePriest the car shortly after the initial alert was released. Skylar was found unharmed. DePriest was taken into custody.

The extent of injuries from the assault are unclear.
