COEUR d’ALENE--The NHL may be in the middle of a lockout, but that isn't stopping a group of North Idaho veterans from hitting the ice.  They're starting their own league with a different type of hockey.

Gary Duvall is a lifelong hockey fan, but hasn’t played since he was wounded in Vietnam.  He recently started the Inland Northwest Disabled Veterans Sports Association and now that’s all changing.

Soon, full teams of disabled veterans will be playing in the first and only sled hockey league in the area.

Gary says this wouldn’t have been possible without a grant from the U.S. Olympic Committee and the VA.  The grant is helping pay for the sleds and ice time.

The first puck officially drops in two weeks.
