PORTLAND – The Portland Streetcar’s Central Loop Line connecting the Pearl district and Portland’s east side opened Saturday.

The loop will join the existing streetcar line called the North/South line on Northwest 10th Avenue and Northwest 11th Avenue in Portland’s Pearl district.

From the est side it will cross the Broadway Bridge and travel along Northeast Broadway, Northeast Weidler Street, 7th Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

“It’s that people-power that’s going to make the streetcar a success, the communities thrive, and Portland to continue to be a model for people across the country,” said Rep. Earl Blumenauer in a press conference Saturday.

The streetcar will cost one dollar to ride for two hours.
