SPOKANE--The heat wave has made it hard for many to get through their day without air conditioning.
People who normally live without air conditioning have been wishing they had it these past few days and some found out the hard way. The a/c they expected at work Monday never turned on.
People living in Browne's Addition have struggled to get through the heat. Older homes reached 85 degrees inside without a/c.
Even those with a/c had trouble today. The cooling system at Spokane's City Hall never turned on Monday morning. So staff turned off the lights halfway through their day to bring the down the temperature. Each floor was warmer than the one below.
The heat distracted staff from their work, some spent part of their day discussing the best way to keep cool.
City Hall wasn't the only place without working air conditioning. Temp-Rite Heating and Air Conditioning made more than 40 home visits today alone.
City Hall expects to have the a/c back Tuesday. Those without that luxury at home are looking elsewhere to make it through the week.
