MAPLE VALLEY -- Two suspects were taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon after a shooting that wounded two teenage victims near Maple Valley.
According to King County Sheriff's deputies, the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. near SE 264th Street and 236th Avenue SE on the Lake Wilderness Trail.
Deputies said a teen and his girlfriend encountered two 18-year-old suspects in the area and exchanged words. At least one shot was fired by the suspects, hitting the male victim in the shoulder.
The bullet grazed the female victim's head.
One of the victims was airlifted to the hospital from nearby Rock Creek Elementary. The condition of either victim is not known.
Two 18-year-old suspects were taken into police custody shortly after the incident a few blocks away.
Police are investigating whether the shooting may have been gang related.
Officers said at least one of the victims knew one of the suspects.
